Topokki

For one person:

  • Korean rice cakes
  • 1 tablespoon of gochujang sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 table spoon of sesame oil
  • some chives
Put all that in a bowl, mix, then add 20cl of hot water before microwaveing it 4mn. Mix again before eating!

This is a Korean dish that I discovered at work in the instant noodle section. As it uses gochujang sauce (a sauce so spicy it makes me cry, and I'm used to spicy stuff), a colleague advised me to add sugar to it. As I kept blinking at her, she explained that the sugar cancelled out the spiciness but kept the sensation of heat. Science is amazing.
